Cari studenti presenti (e passati),

desidero informarvi del fatto che ho rassegnato le dimissioni dall’Università degli Studi di Pavia e andrò in pensione dal 1 marzo 2024.

Desidero ringraziare quegli studenti che, in 37 anni di didattica e ricerca, mi hanno insegnato molto e hanno condiviso con me il loro entusiasmo, la curiosità e la volontà di apprendere i molteplici aspetti della scienza.

Mi mancherà sicuramente la loro spensieratezza, il senso critico e la capacità di mettere in discussione le conoscenze attuali per trovare nuove soluzioni, caratteristiche tipiche della gioventù.

Vi auguro il meglio per il vostro futuro. Saluti a tutti

Dear present (and past) students,

I would like to make you aware of the fact that I have resigned my commitment from the University of Pavia and will retire from March 1, 2024.

I would like to thank those students who, in 37 years of teaching and research, have taught me a lot and have shared with me their enthusiasm, curiosity and willingness to learn the many aspects of science.

I will certainly miss their light-heartedness, critical sense and ability to question current knowledge to find new solutions, typical characteristics of youth.

As announced in the post ‘The last post,’ Prof. Albanesi will be retiring starting from March 1, 2024.

Therefore, after that date:

Student office hours are cancelled

For any inquiries regarding the DCR course, after March 1, 2024 please contact the new teacher Prof. Ferretti.

Evaluation for DCR First semester (a.y. 23-24) 6 credits

This evaluation is the result of the Matlab project (individual), IQA Presentation with answer response/discussion in class, and the work in class of IQA test/trial organization and execution.

****PLEASE READ FIRST ********

1. The grade of this evaluation is not upgradable with further work.
2. The student has to express the will of accepting/refusing the grade during one of the last lessons of the course or within the end of January 2024
3. If the student accepts the grade, his/her grade will be sent to Prof. Ferretti at the end of February for the average with the second DCR grade (in the second semester), together with any grades from the written exams in February
4. If the student does not accept the grade he/she can take the written test in one of the official dates of the exam
5. If the students has in the study plan the DCR course of 12 credits, probably he/she cannot apply for the date of February ( February 2 and February 16) on esse3 platform. Therefore, if he/she decides to take the written test in February, it is mandatory to send an e-mail to Prof. Albanesi before the following deadlines

Written test on February 2: deadline January 29

Written test on February 16: deadline February 12.

6.Once the grade of this evaluation is refused for the written test, it is definetly lost and cannot be recovered again.

INSTRUCTION TO USE THE SAMPLES:

the samples of written test are an help to understand the possible structure and level of difficulty of the test NOT to understand which are the topics (for this goal, please refer to the page of content/slides/sources). For this reason, only TWO samples will be delivered. It is quite enough, do not ask more.

The number of questions may vary to keep constant the level of difficulty of the tests during the year.

Before reading the solutions, try to answer questions on your own, after a thorough study

The exercises of the DCR course are dedicated to examples carried out in Matlab. Please note that students of the University of Pavia are entitled to a free license for the entire Matlab suite, to be downloaded onto their personal computer. For details see this link  this link

Important: to carry out the examples of the course it is essential to install the Wavelet toolbox (in addition to Signal and Image, which, however, are installed by default in the latest versions)

Importante: per svolgere gli esempi del corso è fondamentale installare il toolbox Wavelet (oltre a Signal e Imaage, che però nelle ultime versioni sono installati di default)
